Fruit Cake

The 2012 Fruitcake Film Challenge Film Festival

Details

What?

A fun holiday filmmaking challenge aimed at both beginner/first time filmmakers (including kids) and experienced filmmakers to create 10 second, 30 second and 60 second categories. Your film will screen on the big screen in real movie theater (at the Carousel Luxury Cinemas).

When & Where

When: Wednesday, December 12th @ 7pm
Where: The Carousel Theater - View Map

You have 2 choices for making films:

  1. Just make them on your own. All you need is a phone, or camera, or iPad, or computer and an idea.
  2. We will be holding a FRUITCAKE FILM MAKING SESSION on Saturday December 1st at the Creative Center. You will have 2 hours to make a film (or get started on one) with the expert guidance of the TIFN officers and members.
  3. *** Of course, the best bet is to do both. Make some on your own, then come on December 1st and try to make one in 2 hours.

Join us on Saturday, December 1st at 1:00 p.m. at the Creative Center in making short holiday-themed movies for this always-fun festival!

How short? you may ask. Well that is your choice of 10 seconds or 30 seconds or 60 seconds.

This TIFN event is FREE to enter, open to the public, and perfect for EVERYONE to do.

Rules & Guidelines

Festival Rules

  1. Films should be 10-second, 30-second, or 60-second in length
  2. You may submit more than one film
  3. Each film must adhere to one of the holiday-based themes to be revealed on December 1st
  4. This is a holiday film festival, so please, PG rated themes only
  5. TIFN reserves the right to refuse screening of any film based on content
  6. If you are unable to join us on Sat December 1st, you are still welcome to make and submit film(s)
  7. ALL entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 3rd.

Submission Guidelines

  1. Films can be created with any camera and editing program
  2. As long as your file plays on a Mac or PC computer or your smartphone or tablet, we can screen it
  3. For best results on the big screen, create the film as the highest resolution possible e.g. “HD or 1080p”
  4. Your audio needs to be clear – not too loud, not too soft
  5. For the technical geeks and/or the professional filmmakers – a 24 frames per second, 1080p file (e.g. ProRes or Avid 4:2:2) will look best
  6. For the wannabee Kubricks out there, a 2K or 4K master in Flat or Scope aspect ratio with 5.1 surround will play best
  7. If you don’t know what any of this means, don’t worry about it, just make your film and have fun doing it!
